Renegade Summer 2010

Two weeks ago Renegade SF was held in Fort Mason which is two blocks away from where I grew up (and mother still lives!) so I felt very comfortable as I packed up my dress form, clothing rack, and goods for sale. I knew exactly where I was going and what the parking would be like and that it would most likely be foggy and cold.

What I didn't know was how blown away I was about to be by the event. There were so many amazing designers and people out in droves who were very supportive of off the grid designers. It was all a little overwhelming!
My daughter joined in on the fun and here we are at the start of day two all smiles and matching.
I was so happy to share a booth with Patti and Chris of Papaververt. Patti makes the most amazing hand felted home accessories. She is so dang talented and sweet!

Check out their display, Chris built the super cool modular boxes which
housed all of Patti's wonderful work. For more info about her and her work go to www.papaververt.com

I had to share one of the purchases I made. Across the way in direct view was the cutest gal selling her clothing line, les enfants sauvages. She hailed from Montreal and I was watching her dresses fly off the rack all weekend long. This dress rocks! Have a gander at her designs: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lesenfantssauvages

Thanks for checking all this out and stay tuned for Calliope clutches and some new designs with autumn in mind.

Fashion Camp Summer 2010

I just finished teaching Session 1 of sewing camp along with Jennifer Serr. It was so much fun! Each girl came with a pattern and fabric of her choice. We stitched and styled our way through the week. By the end of the week the girls had a complete garment (or two!) which they pranced down a runway for family and friends to see.

It is so great to work and create with youngsters. They go for it! Nothing is standing in their way.....in the flow they be. So inspirational to be around. Needless to say I was exhausted by Friday and was happy to putter around my garden over the weekend.

I have two more sessions to teach over the summer and I am looking forward to watching my students' designing and creating clothing!

New Liberty Fabrics Have Arrived

I am so excited to start creating with my latest shipment of Liberty fabrics! These fabrics never fail to inspire me. To me, the colorways, the design and the quality are the best.
Just finished making a small zipper cosmetic bag. I love how it turned out. It's rounded shape and pleating details make me happy. I'll definitely be making some of these with my new fabrics. Thinking that a bigger clutch version will be nice looking as well.
